Today I have been listed, for the third year running as one of the HERoes 100 Women Executives List, helping drive workplace gender equality forward.
It is for me an extraordinary honour to be listed with some of my own heroes and the judges are also exceptionally inspirational.
The reason this award is so important to me is because I still, to this day, have no idea who votes for me and I am judged by people I do not know and I sit alongside women who have the power of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies behind them. I run my own show. It really is exceptioanlly humbling.
In this year’s citation, HERoes talk about the work I am doing with Spring Forward, the conference I founded in 2018. In the White Paper we published in February this year, we outlined a number of actions organisations could take to improve the number of women in senior positions. It’s a great passion of mine, I am fed up with seeing organisations full of competent and qualified women – but they are not in the boardroom.
I will continue to call on organisations to think about implementing Rosie’s Rule; where every senior role should include at least one women who is competent and qualified.
This is not about favours, this is about access and equity of opportunity
Rosie’s Rule goes on: If you interview a woman who is competent and qualified but she does not get the role; give clear feedback, put mentoring and sponsorship in place and make sure next time she is successful.
In the meantime, it’s settling in period for school in our world. #miniteampg is on day four and still loving it.
I hope my fellow HERoes celebrate well today, there is so much determination and dedication in these 100 women, I am honoured to be one of them.
